Police Story - Devil's Peak

After finding the last of the urban locations from this movie, Phil from the wonderful Hong Kong (& Macau) Stuff / Hong Kong (& Macau) Film Stuff blogs, reminded me that he'd pointed this spot out to me a while ago. Thanks Phil!

This is where Jackie Chan wakes up after being drugged; on the ridge of Devil's Peak, between the two upper and lower station of the Gough Redoubt. There isn't a Street View, but this Panoramio image does the job nicely (thanks to LeslieC); showing the view across Heng Fa Chuen over to Chai Wan.

Police Story - Perth Street

Finally, the spot where Jackie Chan pulls off a very nifty piece of parking! I've been looking for this for ages...

And, apart from the tree growth, Shek Ku Street is looking pretty much unchanged.

Police Story - Anderson Road Quarry

Well, this was the oldest entry on the 'Help Me!!!' page. Me and Phil from the superb Hong Kong (& Macau) Stuff / Hong Kong (& Macau) Film Stuff blogs had theorised that this was possibly the location of 'Police Story's epic opening, but Isamu has put in some more leg work and come up trumps with final confirmation (he also has an incredible collection of Hong Kong movie locations which he has photographed here).

You can see the top of the hill over Bill Tung's shoulder, although the slope that the shanty town itself was built on has since been quarried. Still, the drainage channel and steps (from the bottom left hand corner of the second capture) are still present.

Police Story - Sui Wo Road

So, after heading through a couple of other locations (namely Tai Po Industrial Estate and Siu Lek Yeun Road and Yuen Hong Street ) the chase ends up with Jackie Chan running down this hill and forcing the bus to stop suddenly.

Police Story - Corner of Siu Lek Yeun Road and Yuen Hong Street

Another location from the chase that starts in the shanty town and then heads to Tai Po Industrial Estate, via this little enclave of Sha Tin. Now, the junction remains surprisingly unchanged, but there's now a couple of buildings, which deny the Hang Seng College of Commerce the spot it once had on the skyline. Thanks to Baycrest for spotting this one.

Police Story - Tai Po Industrial Estate

So, tracking down the location of the shanty town is still eluding those who are on the lookout for it, but here's a location from the subsequent chase, where Jackie Chan is clinging to the bus with his umbrella.

Thanks to Phil from the Hong Kong (& Macau) Stuff / Hong Kong (& Macau) Film Stuff blogs, for following up my hunch and doing the Street View legwork.

Police Story - China Light & Power Co Ltd, Tsz Wan Shan Depot

Where Jackie Chan has some handbrake trouble.

I had no idea where this was, but spotted the writing on the wall, which says 'China Light & Power Co Ltd' and thought I'd fire off an email to them. I must say that I am genuinely touched by their response;

"Dear Daniel,

Thanks again for your interest on this. Your blog is good and interesting!

The picture you showed is our Tsz Wan Shan Depot located at Shatin Pass Road, Tsz Wan Shan.

Herewith some pictures of the building and nearby areas for your perusal. Hope you like it.

That is customer service, above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you!

Police Story - Wing On Plaza

The mall which plays host to the epic finale of 'Police Story'. There's also a really nice Indian vegetarian restaurant - Woodlands - in there, which I would recommend.
